You may have come across claims on the internet and social media that microwave heating causes cancer and that microwave food is poisonous to humans. No scientific study confirms any effects of microwave radiation on food other than thermal ones. Microwave radiation is NOT a harmful ionizing radiation and microwave heating of food does NOT cause cancer. On the contrary, it is in many ways kinder to food than conventional heat treatments because it allows you to reduce the time the food is exposed to heat.
